| Rooney Proud With Result |
| The striker scored United's only goal at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night in the Reds' 2-1 defeat but AS Roma must now come to Manchester for the second leg. United played for more than an hour in the Stadio Olympico with ten-men following the dismissal of Paul Scholes for a second bookable offence. "We knew once we got the goal it would be difficult for them to come to Old Trafford with the fans we have there," Rooney said. "Going down to ten-men in the first-half made it a difficult game. They passed the ball really well,Ronny did brilliantly," praised Rooney. Then Ole(Gunnar Solskjaer) played a great ball in for Rooney and Rooney managed to finish it off. "It was one of the hardest games I've played in. It was a tough job but we're happy with the result in the end." |
